Well, best laid plans, I guess. I was hoping to finish a quilt today and get some cross stitching in this weekend. And then last night happened. I had just finished making lasagna for supper and washed out the blender and rinsed the blade. It’s a big ole Ninja blender and has a wicked blade that sits down inside. Not sure what happened, but I think my hand slipped just a little and I got a pretty bad cut on my left thumb. And I’m left handed! 😯 I put pressure on it and had it wrapped in a paper towel, but I just couldn’t get it to stop bleeding. Paul came home about an hour later and said we needed to go to urgent care. Luckily, I only needed to have it glued, but I’m in a splint for a few days until it heals. 🙄 And I had to get a tetanus shot. It could have been much worse, though. Anyway, no clipping seams today. Not sure what to do with myself. Oh well, I can type at least. 🙂
Here are some pictures of quilts and totes I’ve made recently. More coming as soon as I can get back to work!
In between custom orders, I’ve been working on a twin rag quilt. Oh my, these fabrics are absolutely stunning! I fell in love with this collection when I saw it. It’s perfect for a little girl’s bedroom, so I’m making a twin quilt to add to my etsy shop. The quilt is out of the dryer, so today I’ll be cleaning it up and getting pictures.
Aren’t these lovely! The pinks, greens, and grays and the flowers are so pretty!

And some pictures of a tote I recently did for a customer ~~
I hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July! I’m happy that my husband, Paul, will get a four day holiday. He works a lot of overtime, so a few days off is very much needed. And I’m sure he’ll be barbecuing! 😎 Enjoy time with your family and friends and stay safe!
I’ve been getting a lot of interest in queen size quilts, so I’ve been working on one using the Amy Butler Love fabrics. They sure are pretty!
But, now I’m waiting for some more backing fabric that I ordered to finish it. So, I’m making some more table runners to put in my shop. I didn’t want to unthread my Laura Ashley machine to start them, so I pulled out my Elna 860. I bought it in early 2015, mainly for embroidery. I hadn’t really learned much about the sewing side of it until today. I figured out how to program and save special stitches and how to do twin stitching. It took me all afternoon to figure it out. 😯 I would try to find info in themanual, but had a heck of a time with that. So, I just started pushing buttons and figured things out that way. 😎 I love this machine! It’s very quiet and the stitching is perfect! I’m so glad I finally decided to figure it out. It’s going to be a great second sewing machine!
I bought a couple of different fabric collections in the past month or so. The blue fabrics are from April Cornell. Aren’t they beautiful? And the sunflower fabrics are from Wilmington Prints. More quilts coming soon using these fabrics.
Well, it’s been a busy few days since I wrote the last time. I’m hoping to get a few more quilts and totes in my shop before the Christmas season starts up. Just finished a Christmas lap quilt and should have pictures and a listing in a day or two. And there’s a queen size quilt in the dryer right now. 🙂 I can’t wait to see how it turns out! The fabrics I used have a shabby floral look in pinks, ecrus, and taupe. So pretty! Now, I’m excited to start a custom order in a couple of days. It’s for two window seat rag quilts. I think the fabrics that the customer picked out are going to be very nice for her husband’s office.
I’ve been working on this quilt for a few days and should have pictures and a listing in a day or two. I used beautiful Moda fabrics for this one. The colors are so rich and lovely. I especially like the blue squares. The blue is a dusky blue and it gives this quilt an antiquey feel.
This quilt is ready to ship and can be found here ********************************************************
I just love Amy Butler fabrics, especially from her Love Collection. The colors and prints are so bold and pretty! This collection is very popular with my customers and I’m glad Amy Butler hasn’t discontinued it. I can make any size quilt, from crib size to king. I would love to talk with you about a rag quilt using these lovely fabrics.
