Rag quilt candle mat and coaster sets

I’ve been making these candle mat sets for years and they have been very popular in the past, especially during the holidays.  Most customers have bought three or four sets to give as gifts and to keep one for themselves.  I stopped making them for a couple years, just not enough time to get any new ones in my shop. But, I’m back to adding them to my etsy shop and forgot how nice it is to sew something a little simpler than a quilt or tote. I’ve kept them very inexpensive, so you can get more than one.  I love to do custom orders for these, too!

Ask me about other fabrics I have or can order and about reversible sets. Plus, I can always add extra coasters to a set, too.

There are a few more in my shop and I’ll be adding more sets in a few days. Now, I better get back to sewing! 🙂

Fabrics are in for custom order!

The last of the fabric for the Christmas quilt came in yesterday.  I’ve been sewing like crazy today!  Got all the rows together!  I just need to stitch around the outer edge and clip the seams. I’m hoping to get pictures by Friday for my customer.

In the mean time, I sold three totes a couple days ago, so I need to find some time soon to make a few more.  I’m loving all the busyness of life lately.  I’m trying to get up every morning with a set goal for that day.  It’s nice to wake up knowing my day is planned out. 😎

Here’s some pictures of quilts that are available in my shop, ready to ship!

Very excited about latest custom order!

The specified grid gallery id does not exist.

A few days ago I had a customer ask about a custom order.  She searched on Etsy and found a number of fabrics that she wanted to have made into an extra large Christmas lap quilt.  So, I got busy figuring out how much of each fabric I’d need and if each place that I needed to order from would have enough fabric in stock.  I was a little concerned about the cost because we have fabric coming from many different sellers including one from Australia and shipping for each was going to add up.  But, she loves all the fabrics she picked out and decided to go with them all! 😀  We sent messages back and forth for the better part of the day and I really enjoyed the process of working with her!

I added a new page to my website called “custom orders” and put all her fabrics on the page, so she could see how they would look together instead of a picture here and a picture there. After we got everything figured out, I ordered all the fun fabrics she chose. Two arrived already and the rest should hopefully be here by the end of the week. 🙂 I can’t wait to get started on her quilt!  Pictures soon! 🙂

Pick your own fabrics

I know there are times when customers are looking for the perfect quilt and just don’t see anything ready to ship that has the look they’re wanting. If you don’t see just what you’re looking for in my shop, I’m adding custom, made to order listings for you to “Pick Your Own Fabrics”.  Each listing is for a different size quilt, from crib to king.  I’m still in the process of adding them to my Etsy shop, so please check back over the next couple of days to see them all.

I’ve put all the information on how to pick your fabrics in each listing.  You get to choose from thousands of fabrics on both hawthornethreads.com and hancocks-paducah.com.  You’ll put the names of the fabrics in the “notes to seller” box at checkout, I’ll order the fabrics, and get started on the perfect quilt for you.  If you get stuck or have any questions on the process, please send me a message and I’ll help in any way I can.  I want you to enjoy creating your own beautiful rag quilt!

Quilts and a covered bridge

Paul and I went on a day trip to Sandy Creek Covered Bridge just south of St. Louis.  I took a few of my quilts to get some pictures near the bridge.  We both took pictures, but I like his better. 😀 So, thank you, babe!  It was a very pretty October day, sunshine and cool breezes. The trees really weren’t showing their color much, but it was still a pretty day to go.  You can find all of these quilts in my Etsy shop.  Click on the links to see more about them.

Our kitty, Destiny

Destiny2aThis is our kitty cat, Destiny.  She has lived with us for 3 years this week and every minute has been a joy.  Destiny was our daughter’s cat for a few years, but came to live with us when she felt she couldn’t give her enough attention with working long hours. At first, Destiny was very skittish and really had a hard time warming up to my husband, Paul. Our daughter said the men who were around Destiny picked on her. But, over time Paul showed her lots of love and now she’s daddy’s girl. Destiny spends her days with me and I just can’t say enough about how much I love her! She’s my constant companion, keeping me company while I sew. She’s become so much a part of our little family and I hope we have her for many years to come.

Busy, busy!

Well, it’s been a busy few days since I wrote the last time. I’m hoping to get a few more quilts and totes in my shop before the Christmas season starts up. Just finished a Christmas lap quilt and should have pictures and a listing in a day or two. And there’s a queen size quilt in the dryer right now. 🙂 I can’t wait to see how it turns out! The fabrics I used have a shabby floral look in pinks, ecrus, and taupe. So pretty!  Now, I’m excited to start a custom order in a couple of days. It’s for two window seat rag quilts. I think the fabrics that the customer picked out are going to be very nice for her husband’s office.

Pretty wildflowers

It’s been so nice and cool the past couple of days. Lows in the 40’s and highs around 70.  We’re supposed to get hot this week with highs around 90.  But, I know fall is just around the corner because of these pretty wildflowers.

We moved here 18 years ago around the first of September.  There were yellow flowers growing in our fields and along the edge of our property. I just thought they were the prettiest things. Coming from a subdivision with small houses on small lots, I was thrilled to see wildflowers. We live on 10 acres and have a couple of nice big fields. Paul has been pretty busy this year with work, so hasn’t had a chance to cut the fields as much as he likes to.  But, that’s okay because the yellow wildflowers are blooming like crazy this year. They won’t last long and, then, the weather will start to turn cooler. So, these little flowers are a sign to me that fall is on it’s way and I can’t wait!  I love everything about autumn.  Pumpkins, beautiful fall leaves, sweaters, blue skies, and cooler weather. But, in the mean time, I’ll enjoy these pretty yellow flowers growing in our fields for a little while longer.
