Circus elephants applique baby rag quilt

If you’re looking for a special baby shower gift or a gift for your grandchild or if you’re getting your own nursery ready for your sweet little baby, this baby rag quilt is the perfect pick.  I made this one with soft, cozy flannel.  Even the little elephant appliques are flannel!  The back is a yummy yellow flannel, too!  It’s 42″ x 42″, perfect for a crib blanket or a toddler quilt.  This crib quilt is available in my shopHead on over there to see this one and other baby quilts that I have available.

Lap rag quilts available in my shop

I’ve been working on a custom order quilt this week.  I can’t wait to see how it turns out.  It’s a king size quilt using pretty Christmas fabrics.  I hope my customer enjoys it as much as I’m having fun making it!

There are a good number of rag quilts available in my etsy shop right now.  Most are ready to ship!  Here are just a few of the rag quilts available.

Working on a quilt and pretty fabric!

I’ve been getting a lot of interest in queen size quilts, so I’ve been working on one using the Amy Butler Love fabrics.  They sure are pretty!

fabricblog3But, now I’m waiting for some more backing fabric that I ordered to finish it.  So, I’m making some more table runners to put in my shop.  I didn’t want to unthread my Laura Ashley machine to start them, so I pulled out my Elna 860.  I bought it in early 2015, mainly for embroidery.  I hadn’t really learned much about the sewing side of it until today.  I figured out how to program and save special stitches and how to do twin stitching.  It took me all afternoon to figure it out.  😯   I would try to find info in the manual, but had a heck of a time with that. So, I just started pushing buttons and figured things out that way.  😎  I love this machine!  It’s very quiet and the stitching is perfect!  I’m so glad I finally decided to figure it out.  It’s going to be a great second sewing machine!

I bought a couple of different fabric collections in the past month or so.  The blue fabrics are from April Cornell.  Aren’t they beautiful?  And the sunflower fabrics are from Wilmington Prints.  More quilts coming soon using these fabrics.

Getting into the Christmas spirit

Well, it’s taken awhile, but I finally got a little Christmas spirit!  Not sure why it hasn’t happened until this weekend.  Maybe it’s the warm weather we’re having here in Missouri (going to be 60 degrees on Christmas!) or that we decided not to buy many presents this year.  We’re trying to pay off some stuff and save a little.  Or maybe because I was content just staying home and sewing everyday and trying not to think about going out and getting in the middle of all the Christmas hullabaloo.  But, I had to go out yesterday, the Saturday before Christmas of all days, to get a few things, some gifts for my daughter and son-in-law and stuff to bake Christmas cookies.  I was dreading it, but I got up yesterday morning and headed out. And I’m so glad I did!

I had 5 stores to go to, Home Depot, Kohl’s, Walmart, Sam’s Club, and a local grocery store.  Of course, it was pretty crazy out there, but among the craziness was so much Christmas spirit!  The Salvation bell ringers were at 3 of the stores.  When I went into Sam’s, there was a sweet little family ringing the bell, a dad, mom, and 3 adorable girls. The girls were dancing around and when I came up to put a couple dollars in the bucket, they all wished me a Merry Christmas.  When I came out, an older couple had taken their place.  The woman was ringing the bell and the man was playing Christmas carols on a saxophone. So cool!  I parked pretty far out, so I got to listen to him all the way to my car and he was good!  Then, at the grocery store, a man and 4 teenage girls were ringing the bell and the girls were singing Christmas carols. Each stop helped me get more and more happy about Christmas.

Every store cashier and greeter said Merry Christmas! Not happy holidays or just saying nothing.  I was really impressed that all the stores allowed their employees to say that.  And I loved saying Merry Christmas back to them.  The line to check out at Kohl’s was halfway across the store!  But, I got in line and actually enjoyed the wait.  The Christmas music was playing, I was people watching, and looking around at the decorations, reminding myself what Christmas is all about. Hard to believe, but I really liked standing in line. lol  It gave me time to relax and be thankful for being able to afford a few gifts for my family.

We put out a few inside decorations. But, outside is where the real decorating is!  My husband, Paul, is one of those guys who puts lights to music.  We’ve been doing it for 6 years and it gets better every year.  Paul took a few photos of this year’s display.  We still need to figure out how to get a decent video.  I took a few of my Santa collection, our tree, and some other decorations I put up.  Wish some of the pictures were better. Just snapped them without much preparation. But, anyway, here are some pictures of our Christmas home.  I hope you all enjoy them and I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!

Weekend flash sale!!!

Christmas flash sale ad copyThis weekend is the perfect time to order a quilt or tote from my shop!  I’m having a **FLASH SALE**, 15% off almost everything. The only things not included are the Pick your Own Fabric listings or custom orders. I use Etsy on Sale for sales in my etsy shop, so you’ll see the sale price in each listing and the original price in the first picture of each listing. I love Etsy on Sale to set up my shop sales. I put in the information like how long to run the sale, what discount I’m wanting to use, and when I want to start the sale. Then, they bulk edit everything for me! Much nicer than having to go through each listing to change the price. There’s a very minimal charge which is so worth it to me not to have to edit all my listings. If you are a seller on Etsy, it’s truly a time saver!

I hope you find something that you love as much as I love making them. 😀 Now, I better get back to sewing!  Next blog post will be all about Christmas decorations!  I just need to find time to get some pictures to show you all!  Oh yeah, the sale runs through Monday night.  A little extra time for you to decide what to order.  Have a great weekend!!
