Getting back to work

I’m finally getting back in the swing of things after the holidays. It was a very busy Christmas season in my shop, mainly custom orders. I was able to take a little break which gave me time to get my house under some control and decorated. ๐Ÿ˜€ Once Christmas was over, I started end of year paperwork. I’m still not finished with that, but it’s a start.ย  So, I got some fabric cut out a few days ago and finished sewing a twin quilt today. It’ll take a few days to get it clipped and washed. This one will be going in my etsy shop which has been very neglected since way before the holidays.ย  ๐Ÿ™„ Just couldn’t get new things added because of all the custom orders.ย  I’m not complaining, though.ย  I do love custom orders!ย  Just wish I had enough time to get more in my shop, so customers looking for ready to ship have more choices. I do have a goal to double the items in my shop this year!ย  Not sure I can do it, but I’m gonna try!ย ๐Ÿ˜Ž

What I’m working on

In between custom orders, I’ve been working on a twin rag quilt.ย  Oh my, these fabrics are absolutely stunning!ย  I fell in love with this collection when I saw it.ย  It’s perfect for a little girl’s bedroom, so I’m making a twin quilt to add to my etsy shop.ย  The quilt is out of the dryer, so today I’ll be cleaning it up and getting pictures.ย

Aren’t these lovely!ย  The pinks, greens, and grays and the flowers are so pretty!ย

I hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July!ย  I’m happy that my husband, Paul, will get a four day holiday.ย  He works a lot of overtime, so a few days off is very much needed.ย  And I’m sure he’ll be barbecuing! ๐Ÿ˜Ž Enjoy time with your family and friends and stay safe!

It’s been a little bit

I’m finally caught up on orders and taking a little breather before adding some new things to my shop. Here’s the custom orders I’ve been working on lately.

I made four totes for a customer in Florida. She wanted tropical colors and prints. I had fun picking these out for her!ย  She was very happy with them.

Working on custom orders

I’ve had to change the amount of days to complete custom orders to 60 days from 45!ย  And that’s because I’ve been getting one custom order after another lately, so it’s all good! ๐Ÿ™‚ย  I just love getting up every morning knowing my day is going to be busy sewing up the orders, taking pictures of the progress for instagram, and helping new customers figure out the perfect fabrics for their totes and quilts.ย  Right now, I’m working on 4 beautiful totes for a customer who chose lovely tropical colors and prints for all of them. I should be done with them early this week and the next order will be a king size Christmas rag quilt! Can’t wait to get started on it! The fabrics that we picked for it are so, so pretty!! Here are pictures of all the fabrics for these orders.ย  If you are interested in a custom order, please feel free to convo me through etsy and I would love to work with you!

Working on a quilt and pretty fabric!

I’ve been getting a lot of interest in queen size quilts, so I’ve been working on one using the Amy Butler Love fabrics.ย  They sure are pretty!

fabricblog3But, now I’m waiting for some more backing fabric that I ordered to finish it.ย  So, I’m making some more table runners to put in my shop.ย  I didn’t want to unthread my Laura Ashley machine to start them, so I pulled out my Elna 860.ย  I bought it in early 2015, mainly for embroidery.ย  I hadn’t really learned much about the sewing side of it until today.ย  I figured out how to program and save special stitches and how to do twin stitching.ย  It took me all afternoon to figure it out.ย  ๐Ÿ˜ฏ ย  I would try to find info in the manual, but had a heck of a time with that. So, I just started pushing buttons and figured things out that way.ย  ๐Ÿ˜Žย  I love this machine!ย  It’s very quiet and the stitching is perfect!ย  I’m so glad I finally decided to figure it out.ย  It’s going to be a great second sewing machine!ย

I bought a couple of different fabric collections in the past month or so.ย  The blue fabrics are from April Cornell.ย  Aren’t they beautiful?ย  And the sunflower fabrics are from Wilmington Prints.ย  More quilts coming soon using these fabrics.ย

Fabrics are in for custom order!

The last of the fabric for the Christmas quilt came in yesterday.ย  I’ve been sewing like crazy today!ย  Got all the rows together!ย  I just need to stitch around the outer edge and clip the seams. I’m hoping to get pictures by Friday for my customer.

In the mean time, I sold three totes a couple days ago, so I need to find some time soon to make a few more.ย  I’m loving all the busyness of life lately.ย  I’m trying to get up every morning with a set goal for that day.ย  It’s nice to wake up knowing my day is planned out. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Busy, busy!

Well, it’s been a busy few days since I wrote the last time. I’m hoping to get a few more quilts and totes in my shop before the Christmas season starts up. Just finished a Christmas lap quilt and should have pictures and a listing in a day or two. And there’s a queen size quilt in the dryer right now. ๐Ÿ™‚ I can’t wait to see how it turns out! The fabrics I used have a shabby floral look in pinks, ecrus, and taupe. So pretty!ย  Now, I’m excited to start a custom order in a couple of days. It’s for two window seat rag quilts. I think the fabrics that the customer picked out are going to be very nice for her husband’s office.ย

Custom orders

I’ve added a page here on my website for custom orders – fabrics for custom orders.ย  You’ll be able to pick out fabrics that you’d like me to use in a rag quilt or a tote.ย  Just let me know the number of the picture when you message me.ย  We can talk about all the specifics (size, price, finish date) and I can set up a listing on Etsy and get started making a special quilt or tote just for you.ย  Here are some pictures of just a few of the custom orders I’ve made.
