Well, best laid plans, I guess. I was hoping to finish a quilt today and get some cross stitching in this weekend. And then last night happened. I had just finished making lasagna for supper and washed out the blender and rinsed the blade. It’s a big ole Ninja blender and has a wicked blade that sits down inside. Not sure what happened, but I think my hand slipped just a little and I got a pretty bad cut on my left thumb. And I’m left handed! 😯 I put pressure on it and had it wrapped in a paper towel, but I just couldn’t get it to stop bleeding. Paul came home about an hour later and said we needed to go to urgent care. Luckily, I only needed to have it glued, but I’m in a splint for a few days until it heals. 🙄 And I had to get a tetanus shot. It could have been much worse, though. Anyway, no clipping seams today. Not sure what to do with myself. Oh well, I can type at least. 🙂
Here are some pictures of quilts and totes I’ve made recently. More coming as soon as I can get back to work!
I’m finally getting back in the swing of things after the holidays. It was a very busy Christmas season in my shop, mainly custom orders. I was able to take a little break which gave me time to get my house under some control and decorated. 😀 Once Christmas was over, I started end of year paperwork. I’m still not finished with that, but it’s a start. So, I got some fabric cut out a few days ago and finished sewing a twin quilt today. It’ll take a few days to get it clipped and washed. This one will be going in my etsy shop which has been very neglected since way before the holidays. 🙄 Just couldn’t get new things added because of all the custom orders. I’m not complaining, though. I do love custom orders! Just wish I had enough time to get more in my shop, so customers looking for ready to ship have more choices. I do have a goal to double the items in my shop this year! Not sure I can do it, but I’m gonna try! 😎
Over the years of selling on etsy, I’ve had the pleasure of making lots of custom ordered rag totes. I love the process of custom orders…talking to my customers about what they are looking for, figuring out which pretty fabrics to use, of course the sewing :). Here are just a few of the totes I’ve made for custom orders. If you’ve had your eye on a rag quilt tote, but it’s just not exactly what you’re looking for, I would love to make just the right one for you. I try to make the custom order process as easy as possible for you because I know it’s a little intimidating to ask about having something made special. Just send me anetsy convoand I’ll get back with you as soon as possible.
In between custom orders, I’ve been working on a twin rag quilt. Oh my, these fabrics are absolutely stunning! I fell in love with this collection when I saw it. It’s perfect for a little girl’s bedroom, so I’m making a twin quilt to add to my etsy shop. The quilt is out of the dryer, so today I’ll be cleaning it up and getting pictures.
Aren’t these lovely! The pinks, greens, and grays and the flowers are so pretty!

And some pictures of a tote I recently did for a customer ~~
I hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July! I’m happy that my husband, Paul, will get a four day holiday. He works a lot of overtime, so a few days off is very much needed. And I’m sure he’ll be barbecuing! 😎 Enjoy time with your family and friends and stay safe!
I’ve had to change the amount of days to complete custom orders to 60 days from 45! And that’s because I’ve been getting one custom order after another lately, so it’s all good! 🙂 I just love getting up every morning knowing my day is going to be busy sewing up the orders, taking pictures of the progress for instagram, and helping new customers figure out the perfect fabrics for their totes and quilts. Right now, I’m working on 4 beautiful totes for a customer who chose lovely tropical colors and prints for all of them. I should be done with them early this week and the next order will be a king size Christmas rag quilt! Can’t wait to get started on it! The fabrics that we picked for it are so, so pretty!! Here are pictures of all the fabrics for these orders. If you are interested in a custom order, please feel free to convo me throughetsy and I would love to work with you!
I hope you all love this tote as much as I do! It has a vintage look to it with the ecru and maroon prints. Hope someone buys it soon or I might be tempted to keep it for myself. 😉 You can read more about it here.
Here’s the finished patchwork tote and it’s just been listed in my shop. I have sooo many extra 5″ fabric squares that have just been sitting in a rubbermaid box. I pulled 9 different prints and used them in this patchwork rag quilt tote. I tried to keep the prints in the same color families. I think it turned out pretty. Just 1000+ squares to go! 😯
