A little bit of summer

Hi everyone, it’s been awhile!  So, so busy making quilts and totes!  🙂 No slowing down this summer with custom orders and purchases from my store.  So, if I’m not making a custom order, I’m trying to get more things in my shop.  I’m very blessed to get to work from home and sell things that I love making!  And I’m considering whether to move my blog to a new venue.  It’s a toss up between Etsy’s Pattern or Shopify.  So, that’s keeping me busy researching and trying to decide.  Oh well, once I do figure it out, I’ll let you all know!

I’ve added some pretty summer quilts.  I just love the fabrics I’ve been finding.  They are all so beautiful!  Here are a few quilts that I’ve finished and added to my shop.  If you see something and want a different size, just let me know and I’ll see if I have enough to make one for you.  Just click on the picture to see the listing.

And here are some totes that are available.  I’m adding fall totes as I get them made, so please check back in the next few weeks.

This fall tote has sold, but I’ll be making some more like it soon!

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer  🙂  Stay safe!

Something new!

Hi everybody!  My thumb is healed and I’m back to sewing.  This is just a quick update to let you see what I’ve been working on.  These snowflake/star rag quilt trivets are adorable and so much fun to make.  I’ve never used osnaburg fabric which is a slightly heavier muslin type fabric.  It feels kind of stiff when you are sewing it, but after it’s washed it softens up beautifully.  And, oh my goodness, it rags up more than any other fabric I’ve used. The stars are approx. 13″-14″ wide.  Nice size for candles or anything you want to put on them. They look pretty on their own to decorate a holiday table, too.

Homespun seems to work really well with the osnaburg.  I haven’t tried regular quilt fabric yet.  I’d like to be able to offer other fabrics besides homespun, so I’ll be trying some pretty Christmas fabrics soon. But, in the mean time, here are the three homespun stars I’ve made so far.  They are available in my etsy shop, ready to ship.  But, I can make any color homespun, so if you are interested in a different color just send me a convo and we can talk about a custom order.

Can’t sew for a few days :(

Well, best laid plans, I guess.  I was hoping to finish a quilt today and get some cross stitching in this weekend.  And then last night happened.  I had just finished making lasagna for supper and washed out the blender and rinsed the blade. It’s a big ole Ninja blender and has a wicked blade that sits down inside.  Not sure what happened, but I think my hand slipped just a little and I got a pretty bad cut on my left thumb. And I’m left handed!  😯  I put pressure on it and had it wrapped in a paper towel, but I just couldn’t get it to stop bleeding.  Paul came home about an hour later and said we needed to go to urgent care.  Luckily, I only needed to have it glued, but I’m in a splint for a few days until it heals.  🙄  And I had to get a tetanus shot.  It could have been much worse, though.  Anyway, no clipping seams today.  Not sure what to do with myself.  Oh well, I can type at least.  🙂

Here are some pictures of quilts and totes I’ve made recently.  More coming as soon as I can get back to work!

Getting back to work

I’m finally getting back in the swing of things after the holidays. It was a very busy Christmas season in my shop, mainly custom orders. I was able to take a little break which gave me time to get my house under some control and decorated. 😀 Once Christmas was over, I started end of year paperwork. I’m still not finished with that, but it’s a start.  So, I got some fabric cut out a few days ago and finished sewing a twin quilt today. It’ll take a few days to get it clipped and washed. This one will be going in my etsy shop which has been very neglected since way before the holidays.  🙄 Just couldn’t get new things added because of all the custom orders.  I’m not complaining, though.  I do love custom orders!  Just wish I had enough time to get more in my shop, so customers looking for ready to ship have more choices. I do have a goal to double the items in my shop this year!  Not sure I can do it, but I’m gonna try! 😎

Custom orders – totes

Over the years of selling on etsy, I’ve had the pleasure of making lots of custom ordered rag totes.  I love the process of custom orders…talking to my customers about what they are looking for, figuring out which pretty fabrics to use, of course the sewing :). Here are just a few of the totes I’ve made for custom orders. If you’ve had your eye on a rag quilt tote, but it’s just not exactly what you’re looking for, I would love to make just the right one for you.  I try to make the custom order process as easy as possible for you because I know it’s a little intimidating to ask about having something made special.  Just send me an etsy convo and I’ll get back with you as soon as possible.  eileenchenilletote1 kaylatote1 lindasummertote1 Monicatote1 stacytote1 stacytotea

What I’m working on

In between custom orders, I’ve been working on a twin rag quilt.  Oh my, these fabrics are absolutely stunning!  I fell in love with this collection when I saw it.  It’s perfect for a little girl’s bedroom, so I’m making a twin quilt to add to my etsy shop.  The quilt is out of the dryer, so today I’ll be cleaning it up and getting pictures.

Aren’t these lovely!  The pinks, greens, and grays and the flowers are so pretty!

I hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July!  I’m happy that my husband, Paul, will get a four day holiday.  He works a lot of overtime, so a few days off is very much needed.  And I’m sure he’ll be barbecuing! 😎 Enjoy time with your family and friends and stay safe!

It’s been a little bit

I’m finally caught up on orders and taking a little breather before adding some new things to my shop. Here’s the custom orders I’ve been working on lately.

I made four totes for a customer in Florida. She wanted tropical colors and prints. I had fun picking these out for her!  She was very happy with them.

I made this king size Christmas quilt for a custom order and shipped it out today. I hope my customer enjoys this quilt for many years to come.  It was a pleasure getting to make this for her.

Working on custom orders

I’ve had to change the amount of days to complete custom orders to 60 days from 45!  And that’s because I’ve been getting one custom order after another lately, so it’s all good! 🙂  I just love getting up every morning knowing my day is going to be busy sewing up the orders, taking pictures of the progress for instagram, and helping new customers figure out the perfect fabrics for their totes and quilts.  Right now, I’m working on 4 beautiful totes for a customer who chose lovely tropical colors and prints for all of them. I should be done with them early this week and the next order will be a king size Christmas rag quilt! Can’t wait to get started on it! The fabrics that we picked for it are so, so pretty!! Here are pictures of all the fabrics for these orders.  If you are interested in a custom order, please feel free to convo me through etsy and I would love to work with you!

Homespuns and snow

Strange weather this week.  We had snow on the first day of Spring.  We’ve had snow up until the middle of April, so it’s not anything that out of the ordinary. But, it was only supposed to be a dusting and instead it snowed hard all morning.  Not sure how much we got, but it was more than they thought we’d get, that’s for sure!  It was gone by late afternoon, though.  I took a couple of pictures.  It snowed for a few more hours after I took them. 😯

I finished a custom order this week ~~ a queen rag quilt with yummy homespuns.  The front and back are the same, so it’s reversible.  I loved making it!  Now, this pretty quilt is on its way to its new home.  Pictures were hard to get.  I wanted to take it outside, but it’s just been too windy this week. So, I had to settle on the dining room table. If you would like to have a rag quilt made with homespuns, please feel free to contact me on EtsyI would love to talk to you!
